That's a fair point about Messi. I'm not knocking Kane I would much prefer he isn't on the team sheet when we play them but at this moment in time if I were a manager with 300m to spend there are a few strikers I would go for ahead of Kane right now.

He's world class. He could join any club in the world and would start their next game. He is not at the level of Messi & Ronaldo but nor has anyone else been in the last 30 years. He can be mentioned in the same breath as Neymar, Aguero, Suarez, Salah, Arnautevic etc as best of the rest though - he's a fantastic footballer and the best Tottenham have had since Klinsmann.

I tend to agree except for the fact that Messi has done nothing for Agentina. With his ability he should be able to perform for his national team regardless of the players around him, and they aren't exactly donkeys.
It's far too early for Mbappe too, at 19 years old consideriong he's not even had a chance to do it week in, week out on every stage yet. Not saying he won't become World Class but look at young players like Lucas Moura of Spurs and Mario Gotze who both looked like they would be world class (Gotze even scored the winning goal in a World Cup Final) but they've not really reached the level they were expected to reach.

poor in the World Cup but won the golden boot, reminds me of Lewandowski, great finisher but without creativity behind him he becomes obsolette

You obviously can't argue with his record and will improve but not world class by a long chalk. To be world class you need to do it week after week on every stage and in the big games that matter. Kane isn't doing that yet.
Like them or loathe them the likes of Ronaldo, Messi and surely from now Mbappe can create something out of nothing, ok he is a different player but Kane can't do that and he and the other Spurs lot rely heavily on Erikssen on a Saturday.
Also slightly concerned that he played in the Third Place Play Off. If it's meant to be all about the team why did Kane play and Vardy didn't? Hoping as a Captain he isn't having too much influence over the Manager.

14/15 - 21 PL Goals / 31 in all
15/16 - 25 PL Goals / 28 in all competitions
16/17 - 29 PL Goals / 35 in all competitions
17/18 - 30 PL Goals / 41 in all competitions
You have to look at Ronaldo and Messi to find a more prolific and consistent goal-scorer in the big leagues and Harry Kane is improving still.
He's not the same type of player as Messi and Ronaldo and not technically as gifted obviously but he's a goal scorer one of the best in the world at it.

Never world class, proved 2nd tournament in a row he can't shoot unless its a penalty, and cant perform in the really big games.

Vardy has been injured all tournament too I think.
Which is maybe something Southgate has got away with.
Kane, Vardy and Alli have all looked unfit or injured and maybe that’s why we’ve seen a lot of Sterling.
That said what other English strikers are there? Carroll obviously not and Murray and Wooney are the only two other English boys to get double figures.
Need someone to give the likes of Abraham a run and see what he can do, Kane needs pressure and we need a backup\\challenger.

That's true, and it showed during the little game time that Vardy got.
However, we needed a different approach to our attack.
We were way too ponderous in that regard.
For all the plaudits that Southgate got for the way he and the squad comported themselves, our general tactical approach was poor. We needed to move the ball forward more quickly.
I (genuinely) bemoaned the fact that we didn't have the more direct approach that Allardyce would have brought.
In the end, it cost us.
